Charitable fund raising through Team Building

This year’s fund raising events and charities have been very varied and all have been hugely successful and have raised in excess of £150,000 for good causes.

Of these events the most ambitious programme was the delivery of two charity balls for BP in Houston in the US and at Twickenham Stadium in the UK. The graduate delegates were responsible for every aspect of the event delivery from the promotion and ticket sales through to preparing all the food. This was achieved in only 5 days! Both the US the UK events were a tremendous success and raised over $90,000 for the Houston Children’s Charity and Help For Heroes.

Some of the other events include:

The Marsh Team Walk Challenge. Marsh is the world’s number one insurance broker and is a unit of MMC (Marsh & McLennan Companies). The event was in aid of Help the Hospices and was based at Sherwood Forest Center Parcs. It involved 440 colleagues completing a sponsored walk with a difference. Claranet ran a Questopoly Great London Challenge from their Holborn Office. Questopoly is a giant version of the popular board game during which teams strive to amass the biggest property portfolio. The event took place between 4.00pm & 8.00pm on Thursday the 15th of October and was a great success raising a considerable amount of money for SOS Children. You can find out more about the London City Challenge here and Questopoly, which can delivered in any city across Europe, here.

The Hartford Group incorporated the Team Apprentice Challenge into their High Performance Team Development programme. The Team Apprentice Challenge involved the teams purchasing stock form various wholesalers to sell the following day from market stalls on the famous Portobello Road. The products sold included flowers purchased very early in the morning from New Covent Garden flower market. Read more about the Team Apprentice Selling programme here.

For both the Marsh & BP events we provided the client with a bespoke website and online payment system. This provided a very effective tool for managing several aspects of the events such as a source of information and reference point for the participants, a quick & easy registration system and a very efficient process for managing the event finances.
