O2 Team Building Challenge

Quest were commissioned to deliver a half day fun team building challenge for a mixed team from O2 and their procurement partners 4C Associates. The event needed to take place near to O2’s Head Office in Slough and the venue chosen was 'The Look Out’ at Swinley Forest, Bracknell.

The Challenge

After a light lunch the group embarked on the Team Building exercise, 'The Swinley Forest Questopoly Mania Challenge'. The group of 20 was divided up in to four teams and their objective was to amass the largest property portfolio within the 210 minutes allocated for this challenge. Each team was equipped with three mountain bikes to use as they wished.

The team’s initial task was to solve a puzzle. Once they had the correct answer they were given the course map. The next challenge was to obtain the letters of a code word. The letters for the code were located at four checkpoints.

Once the teams had the correct code they were permitted to undertake a team challenge. Successfully completing the challenge enabled them to leave the Start & Finish and commence the remainder of the exercise.

Timing & Communication Critical

There were 15 property locations and each one was represented by a Property Point (PP) marked on the Upper Stars Post orienteering map. To add a property to their portfolio the teams had to visit the PP and make a note of the letter marked on the post. The more properties they collected the higher their teams’ Questopoly score.

Each team was also required to ‘Pass Go three times’ during the exercise. The teams had the option to split up into sub teams of a minimum number of two, but solo runners or bikers were strictly forbidden. The extra twist was that the whole team had to complete a challenge in order to pass go. To maximize the benefits from splitting up, teams needed to adopt a very carefully planned strategy. Accuracy in timings and communication were also crucial to ensure valuable time was not wasted.

The teams could put houses and hotels on complete property sets. To acquire houses for their properties the teams had to successfully complete a number of team challenges at the start and finish. All the team had to be present to complete the final challenge.

Close Results & Positive Feedback

The teams competed hard all afternoon and achieved some very impressive scores which meant that the results were very close at the end of the day.

“Many thanks for all the work that you and your team put into our team event, we all really enjoyed ourselves. It was good to get us all out of the office for the day,…..”
