Team Building at Pinewood Studios

Wednesday 22 June 2011

Quest was delighted to be asked to work with one of the world’s biggest oil companies for the third time in the middle of June.

That organisation had scheduled to bring a team of over 80 people together for a three day conference which needed to be highly productive, energising and memorable. It also needed to be totally inclusive, and part of that inclusivity needed to be achieved through a team building event.

Following a detailed brief Quest developed an exciting theme for the whole event encompassing imagery based on the world’s most famous spy. This theme was used for graphics for the meetings and seminars, gifts for the delegates and all of the artwork used on the team building activities.

A venue at Heathrow Airport had already been selected from which to run the conference, and The Radisson Edwardian Hotel did a terrific job of hosting, feeding and accommodating.

Likewise a venue had been chosen for the team building and team dinner mid-way through the three days, and Pinewood Film Studios offered an exciting location for the team building that Quest had planned.

Using the secret agent theming, the whole conference was focused on action, and Quest replicated that superbly through the team building event at Pinewood.

The team of 80 started off in 16 sub-teams believing they were competing against one another, and the beginning of the event was fast and frenetic as the teams sought to complete as many spy-themed activities as possible.

Through some clever collaboration the 16 sub-teams were then amalgamated into 8 sub-teams and a fiendish communications exercise was tackled, before those 8 teams were further amalgamated into 4 sub-teams for the final part of the team building event.

Those 4 sub-teams all finally had to work together to build a 2.3 metre high pyramid of cubes, through correctly assembling 24 huge images of filling stations.

The climax of that construction was the awarding to the team of a 1.5 metre high electrically powered rocket which was then sent soaring into the Berkshire skies, making our clients the first oil company to ever send their brand into orbit!
