Cutting the Cost of Conflict

The cost of unresolved or poorly managed conflict is counted in four currencies namely: Money, Time, Energy and Reputation. The extent of that cost is, in turn, dictated by the individual responses of each of your people. Collectively we are all responsible for the cultural conflict norms within our teams and organisations.

This programme reveals a range of factors that cause and drive conflict. By becoming familiar with these factors we can better understand and control our reactions to conflict. This will in turn enable us to respond to situations and address them in ways which strengthen team dynamics, reduce the cost of conflict and enhance individual and team performance.

Quest's ‘Cutting the Cost of Conflict’ programmes can be tailored to your team’s or individual requirements as stand alone training, as part of a broader team development/coaching programme, and/or as a follow on session feeding out of a 5 Dysfunctions of a Team Performance Development workshop.

Through the programmes delegates will learn:

  • How to measure the internal and external cost of each of the four conflict currencies
  • Identify and diagnose the 9 types of organisational conflict (*see below)
  • Their own personal conflict response patterns using Insight technology
  • How we attribute blame to others and victim status to ourselves within conflict
  • Techniques to map out the individuals involved, their relationship, needs and power status 
  • How to design appropriate systems for engaging with and resolving conflicts constructively
  • Establish metrics by which to measure the effectiveness of our those systems

In particular, delegates will learn new communication skills that can be easily implemented in their responses to conflict and across their professional lives.
