Charity Challenges

Charity Challenge Team Building Events

These events have been developed for large groups of between 100 to 700 participants and are aimed at significantly strengthening the relationships between charities and their corporate sponsors, to maximise fund raising opportunities, and to help organisations meet their corporate social responsibility commitments whilst also achieving a range of strategic corporate objectives.

Case Studies

Marsh and Mercer Team Walk Challenges

Quest has been running these events since 2009. They have two key objectives which are to: raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity, currently (and for the past four years) The British Red Cross; to encourage colleague engagement and promote colleague well-being.

Team Walk Challenges are hugely popular and attract upwards of 600 people. Consequently venues that can accommodate and host those numbers for a gala dinner are required and all four of the five Center Parcs venues that are open to corporate groups have been used with great success. In addition one of the 2018 events is being delivered at the Celtic Manor Resort, with exclusive use of the Montgomerie golf course.

Lloyds TSB NSPCC Charity Challenge

This fun packed Corporate Charity Challenge was organised by Quest for Lloyds Banking Group. The resulting funds raised for the NSPCC were in excess of £100,000.

This competitive event was staged at Bath University and the 350 competitors came from right across the bank’s branch network. It took place over a 24 hour period and was made up of an extensive range of activity challenges including a night exercise; kayaking; slalom canoeing; a climbing wall; the University of Bath’s (and the UK’s only) bobsleigh and skeleton push-start track, and many others that incorporated the university’s excellent sports facilities.

For the completion of certain challenges, the teams earned pieces of a giant jigsaw puzzle, (each piece measuring one square metre), and the event grand finale involved all the teams collaborating by pooling all their pieces and working together to build the giant puzzles in the construction of a giant puzzle.

Blacks Adventure Race

A group of 120 staff from the retail group, Blacks, took part in a bespoke Adventure Race staged in the beautiful hills around Bredon, Worcestershire.

The event took the format of one of Quest’s very popular Questars adventure races. Along with mountain biking, trail running and kayaking on the River Avon the teams were also set some cerebral puzzles to test their minds and challenges to develop their team work.

Teams came from Blacks retail outlets across the UK and competed enthusiastically to become the Blacks Adventure Racing Team Champions. All the teams’ hard work was made all the more worthwhile because the event raised in excess of £30,000 for charity.

RWM Charity Challenge

The race had three stages; kayaking, mountain biking and a vertical limit challenge. Within each stage there were a range of checkpoints for the teams to visit. Each checkpoint had a value and the winners were the team that accumulated the most points within the time limit.

The race was continuous; transition between stages was all part of the race. Teams chose in which order to complete each stage and had to stay together throughout the race.

Teams decided how many checkpoints to visit, but they needed to visit at least one checkpoint in each stage to avoid a penalty. This format gave each team maximum flexibility. They could play to their team strengths, choose their own route and even change their race plan midway through!

The course was devised and set to provide a great deal of route choice and to cover the best parts of the Purbeck Hills, and an electronic scoring system was used which enabled results to be calculated quickly and easily.

And the best part was the event raised in excess of £50,000 for the Charity ‘Make a Wish’!
